Final Wire Composition Photograph a

I decided to take an image and use that image to create various compositions from the original.

Here is the final composition. The other compositions will be coming soon. My goal was to make 5 different comps. I do have favorites but I will let you tell me yours.

If you have any suggestions for sweet ways to crop the original photo feel free to share in a comment. I am sure that there are many more. I came up with these while I was writing up the instructions for the boys I am teaching.

Wire Project - Part 1

I am going to attempt to post one image at a time for a while. I think it will help me choose quality over quantity. Maybe it will keep my viewers (when I have some) away from boredom. Also if I really have several images that are great of the same subject they will last longer and keep you all in suspense.

What better to start this habit with than a series of images. The images came from a project idea that I have for art lesions. I am currently teaching two little boys about art and graphic design. I love it.

Anyways I was thinking that a fun project would be to take an image and use that image to create various compositions from the original.

Here is the original. The other compositions will be coming soon. My goal was to make 5 different comps. I do have favorites but I will let you tell me yours.

Yucca

Being from Wyoming, I don't get to see many yucca plants in bloom. I am not even sure if I knew that they flowered.

Along the river, I guess they get enough water to be a little less brown than the ones that I have previously seen.

Yayyy Washington. This image was taken on Clover Island, just along the sidewalk.

Sunsets and Bridges

These two were taken when we were on Clover Island.
I really like this angle. Gorgeous scenery makes photography easy.

Gas Station

This picture was taken the day that we were taken for the plane ride. This is the gas station at the Joseph, Oregon airport.

I like the mountain in the background contrasted with the machinery in the foreground. The contrast between mechanical objects and nature is fascinating.

I am not sure if I am a fan of the composition. It seems a bit crowded on the left. The circular container looking part should either be father to the right or cut off.

Well maybe next time.

Another image depicting the balance between the natural and the mechanical.

The mastery that humans often have over nature is fascinating.

YOU

Three more letters from our Seattle trip. The Y is a branch (and its shadow) sticking out of the a shore off of Bainbridge Island. The O is from a sign that I saw while we were on the Underground Tour. I couldn't get a good photo while on the tour so we went back. The bar/grill next to it was pretty good. No cover charge and live music. They also had chili cheese fries that were decent.
This one is of a sculpture in Seattle. I found a couple other letters in this sculpture. This same spot works as a D as well I need to find a second image of either a U or a D. The W and M are in the same situation where the image will work for either but I still need another one.

EAT

Well here are some more letters for you.
This one is from the Underground Tour.
Just walking to the Space Needle.
Also from the Underground Tour. This is the sidewalk that we stood under. The light parts were purplish glass that allowed light into the underground. It was pretty crazy.

Seattle vs Utah Jellies

For those of you who might be curious...the lower blob is a jellyfish. We saw about thirty of them when looking off the deck of the ferry on the way to Bainbridge. It was crazy to see real jellyfish that were not in a zoo. There were so many of them. Many just looked like blobs but some were clear.
I realize that this isn't my greatest photograph... ...So here is another image of jellies. This one is from the Salt Lake City Aquarium. I think I actually like the composition of this image more than the other one that was posted. I like that this image seems simpler.

Starfish

More wildlife of Bainbridge Island off of Seattle.
This is the first time that I can remember seeing live starfish not in an aquarium. Maybe in Florida when I was little but I doubt it.
Here is a close up.

Bainbridge Island

Over the weekend we took a trip to Seattle. More pictures will be coming soon.

We took a ride on the ferry to Bainbridge Island and walked around for a couple hours. Views of Seattle from the Ferry were great. I would recommend this adventure to anyone visiting Seattle. Also if you get a chance take a bike on the ferry or rent one on Bainbridge.
While walking around the island Jim heard a snake crawling around. At first he thought that it was struggling. The snake was doing fine, it was the snail that was in trouble.
We didn't think that the snake would be able to eat the snail. I think it took about 10 minutes. The snake gave up for a while but it returned to the challenge and conquered.
I don't think that I have ever seen a snake with the lump in its throat but here it is.
He looks happy, full and lump free.

Seattle Space Needle

This past weekend we went to Seattle.
Here are the typical photos of the Space Needle. I think I will be posting some city scape photographs as well. But I want to use these three images next to each other and frame them.
It was fun to take these photographs. I am pretty stoked that I was able to find three different angles of the Space Needle.
This is said to be the sculpture that Black Hole Sun was written about. I will probably post another image of the the sculpture in a different post.

Here is the third and final view.

Clouds

Here are a couple more photographs from the plane trip. I took several photographs of clouds; I thought that they might make really interesting poster backgrounds. Either for concept or for texture after being edited in PS.

MRW

I am starting a project where I am finding and photographing all of the letters in the alphabet. I may try to capture multiples of some letters that often appear twice in a word. I keep debating between doing a theme and finding all the letter on animals or airplanes. I think I will just start with finding them anywhere. Here are the two that I have. Jim helped my find the R. Don't tell but I did have to reverse the R. I will be posting the letters as I find them as well. Also I guess that I wouldn't be opposed to using one photograph as multiple letters. Like this M could also be a W. I think it will be a challenging and fun project for the summer. The M is the back part of a hellicopter. We went to the Richland Fly-in and saw all the planes. This guy was also there. The R is a railing on Clover Island surround the lighthouse. I love how the sunset is in the background.

Plese Note: the M has since been edited and cropped.

Factories

There is something gorgeous about factories and machinery. Most of the photographs that I get don't turn out because I take them while driving by. But here are couple from the Richland airport that did turn out.

Other Bridges

This is the other bridge that connects Pasco and Kennewick. The two bridges that are in one of the posts from the plane trip shows these same two bridges but from a different perspective.

I did take some photographs as the sun was setting. I was hoping the sun would be centered on the bridge but it wasn't. The colors in the sunset photos were great but I wasn't a fan of the compositions.

Maybe I will find a spot in the Tri-Cites with some spectacular sunset scenes.

Bridges

Can you find the 7 differences?

I realize these two are fairly similar but I like them both. I think that the one with the bird is my favorite but I really like the ground in the other. These are also from Clover Island. This is one of the two bridges connecting Kennewick and Pasco.

Mountains

I love, love, love mountains. I love hiking around them, climbing them, and looking at them. It was crazy to be at the same level as their peaks, and not be on the actual mountain. This photograph is gorgeous but I think that can be attributed to the fact that it would be hard to take a bad photograph of these mountains.

Texture

These images are also from the plane trip. I was fascinated by all of the various textures that the landscape created. The trees, houses, farms, and mountains all created wonderful textures. I may use them in a graphic design project at some time.
